Hello!

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and life. I hope you have a nice stay!

Lately (ep. 2)

Lately (ep. 2)

For someone who claims to be a blogger, I sure am terrible at actually posting on schedule. If I’m being honest, I feel like I haven’t had too much to write about since I’ve been back in the States. Like I said in my last post, everything here has an air of brevity. In fact, as I’m writing this, I have a whole three days left at home. Still, it doesn’t feel real. In all honesty, I haven’t even realized that I’m headed to Croatia so soon. Packing hasn’t even crossed my mind. Regardless, there’s nothing I can do to slow down the rapid passage of time, so all I can do is remain present in my short three days here.

During my time home, though, I have acquired a few favorites that I’d like to share with you all. The last time I shared my favorites was as I was preparing to go to China. It only seemed fitting to update you all on what I’m loving these days. Without further ado, let’s get into my loves of the late.

green

Am I allowed to make a color one of my favorites? I guess so, because green has become an absolute obsession of mine lately. While I’ve always been a fan of the hue, I rarely incorporated it into my wardrobe. These days, though, I can’t seem to get enough of it. I love pairing a nice green top with a simple pair of denim and white sneakers. It ads a bold pop of color to a simple and classic fit.

baggy jeans

I know these have been in style for a while, but these days I can’t be bothered to try and squeeze into a pair of skinny jeans. I have been loving my Abercrombie and Fitch mom jeans that I picked up while I was in Tokyo. These jeans are the only style that fit me perfectly. The offer both the comfort of a baggier pant while still managing to look flattering. Also, I appreciate the shorter length. While I am 5’6”, I still find that most pants are too long for me. These jeans, however, sit perfectly at my ankle.

thrifting

This has been a major love of mine since I came home. I have been interested in sustainability in the fashion industry for a while, and thrifting is the easiest way for me to shop ethically at the moment. While I would love to shop at stores like Reformation, I just can’t justify dropping $200 on a single dress. Thrifting, however— I could do that all day. I love finding unique and fun pieces to work into my wardrobe. I recently thrifted a fun green polo that I hope to style while I’m in Croatia! I can’t wait to thrift while I’m in Europe to fuel my addiction.

movies

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve become a movie addict. I honestly used to dislike movies, mostly because they are so long and required a big chunk of my day. Since I’ve been home, though, I’ve watched dozens of films. Some of my favorites have been Little Women, Uncut Gems, Parasite, Weathering with You, Coherence, and 1917. I have such an appreciation for cinematography and the art of filmmaking. It also just forces me to relax and focus on a single thing for a few hours— something I often need.

ofthelate

Just like last time, I’m going to put y’all onto some good music. Lately I’ve been really into rap and R&B, and this playlist reflects this love. If rap isn’t your thing, you can check out my Spotify for more playlists and vibes.

david sedaris

Funnily enough, a David Sedaris piece appeared in my last favorites post. While I was in China, I read his famous book Me Talk Pretty One Day. He talks extensively about the struggles of living abroad, which I really related to while I was in China. Even while discussing heavy topics, he still manages to be witty and humorous— one of my favorite features of Sedaris’ writing. I plan on reading more of his work in the coming year, so I’ll keep you guys updated on the books I love.

under-eye masks

I have been loving face masks of all sorts lately, but I particularly adore under-eye masks. Since I’m so pale, my under eye circles tend to be more visible. I try to get enough sleep, but I just can’t seem to get rid of the faint purple hue resting under my eyes. Lately I’ve been trying out different masks, and they really do help. I personally love the Patchology Rejuvenating Mask from UO. It helps my eyes look awake and refreshed (even when I’m not.)

natural makeup

Don’t get me wrong, I love doing fun and funky makeup from time to time, but lately I’ve been adoring rocking a bare face or wearing only a little makeup. My holy grail routine is to use the Almay Brow Styler in light brown on my brows and then swipe on some Clinique High Impact Mascara. Not only is it this look practically effortless, it highlights my natural features (which I love.)

replica sailing day perfume

Oh my God, this perfume is amazing. The Sailing Day perfume smells just like Summer— light, airy, and refreshing. I got a travel size of this scent for Christmas and I know I’m going to be wearing it every day while I’m in Europe. Plus, the packaging and branding is so cool. I love the idea of scents based on a lived experience. It makes it more than just a perfume— it feels like you’re almost wearing a memory. Maybe that’s just the marketing geek in me, though!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! If you have something you’re loving lately, tell me on Instagram!

XOXO,

Sadie
